On November 12, 2019, within the framework of the International Student Research Conference “Financial Realities of the Kazakhstan Economy: Global Challenges and Threats”, a joint event between Narxoz library and “Finance and Analytics data” department was held. Azamat Utenov, the director of the Treasury Department of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan, was leading the discussion of the “Do-It-Yourself” reading club. Both faculty members and students participated in the event. The agenda of the meeting included the presentation of “Finance in literature, art and cinema” elective courses by associate professor, L.Zh. Kudaibergenova, Ph.D. and senior lecturer Kazbekova K.M. Students learnt about new elective course that reveals the peculiarities of the formation of financial relations and related resources through classical and modern bestsellers in literature, art, documentary and fiction. As part of the educational event, Azamat Utenov presented books on world of finance such as Theodor Dreiser’s ""The Financier"", Honore de Balzac’s ""Gobsek"", ""Father Goriot"", Johann Wolfgang Goethe ""Faust”, among others. Students raised many questions about the interrelation between the theory and practice of the financial world. The club meets regularly to discuss topical issues in Finance through the prism of books.
