How to calculate boxing using mathematical formulas?
The scientific journal Journal of Sports Economics (Q1) published an article by Narxoz University Professor Murat Isabaev under the heading "Incentives and Strategic Behavior of Professional Boxers" (Incentives and strategic behavior of professional boxers).
Using the language of numbers and mathematical formulas, the researchers tried to answer the question: "How do professional boxers choose their opponents? How do the two parties successfully negotiate the optimal distribution of the fee? After the negotiations are completed or the contract is signed, how does all this affect their preparation for the next fight? “Will they invest more after securing the guaranteed fee?”
The following variables were chosen for analysis: fixed remuneration, bonus, champion status, challenger status, frequency of fights per year, and effort expended. Also, to obtain answers to the above questions, the authors used the following tools of game theory - "optimization, bargaining and contest theory". Undoubtedly, individual criteria are incalculable, but amateurs and boxing professionals today can use the formulas of our researchers to predict future matches.
One of the findings was to support the observation that older athletes who want to cash in on their reputations tend to pick stronger opponents with no intention of over-powering a match, while a young rising star prefers to pick weaker athletes to ensure victory. and also make less effort.
