Maigul Nugmanova, Director of the Gender Economics Research Center (GERC) at Narxoz University, presented initiatives as part of a joint project "Integrated management of marine and coastal resources of the Kazakh part of the Caspian Sea and adjacent territories" by the Government of Kazakhstan, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project aims to preserve the Caspian Sea ecosystem, ensure sustainable regional development, and support local communities.

At the seminar "National Consultations on Defining Priorities," Maigul Nugmanova delivered a report on the importance of a gender-sensitive approach in addressing environmental and social issues. In her speech, she emphasized the need for a consolidated effort from the state, society, and business to achieve sustainable development.

As part of the project, the GERC director also participated in field studies in the Mangystau and Atyrau regions. Fieldwork in these areas provided a deeper understanding of the urgent needs of the local population and helped propose effective solutions to improve quality of life and protect the environment.

As a national expert, Maigul Nugmanova contributes to the development of strategies aimed at:
- environmental sustainability and conservation of natural resources;
- job creation and support for local communities;
- integrating gender equality principles into decision-making processes.

Thanks to its comprehensive approach, the project contributes to the protection of the Caspian Sea ecosystem and the improvement of living standards in the region.
