Narxoz University became the first university in Kazakhstan and Central Asia to enter into a double degree agreement with Queen's University Belfast.
Narxoz University and Queen’s University Belfast, one of the leading universities in the UK, have signed an institutional partnership and double degree agreement at the site of the Bett 2024 international educational exhibition in London.
Founded in 1845 in Belfast, Queen’s University is one of the most famous universities in the United Kingdom and ranks 202nd in 2024 QS World University Rankings. The University is well-known for its famous graduates, who include Nobel Prize laureates, prominent government and public figures.
The Memorandum of Agreement was signed with the participation of Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lord Malcolm Offord, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Minister for Exports of the United Kingdom and and Magzhan Ilyassov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

«Kazakhstan aims to develop a strategic partnership with the United Kingdom by strengthening educational and scientific ties between universities in the two countries. Narxoz University has more than 70 international partners, and we welcome this cooperation between Queen's University Belfast and Narxoz», – said Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
«When the project is realised, this will be the third UK university to establish a presence in Kazakhstan in less than 3 years – a strong testament to our bilateral relationship in the education sector», – emphasized Lord Offord.
Narxoz University has an extensive history of cooperating with British universities in the areas of joint degrees, summer schools and research. Several grant research projects were conducted in cooperation with the University of Birmingham. In 2023, the University of Oxford presented Narxoz with an official copy of the manuscript of the Turkic philosopher Tarazi «Funun al-balaga» («Science of Perfection»), the original of which is kept in the Bodleian Library.
This new agreement provides students of Narхoz University the opportunity to study in the joint educational programs of Queen's University Belfast and the Narxoz School of Economics and Management.

As part of the agreement, Narxoz students will be able to benefit from preferential tuition at Queen’s. The «2+2» dual degree format will allow Narxoz students to receive a BSc degree in Business Management, Business Economics or Finance from Queen’s, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Narxoz, as well as the opportunity for internships and future employment in British companies.
