The Narxoz Student Team Wins at the Moot Court Competition on Digital Law in Bishkek

On December 6-7, 2024, the Moot Court Competition on Digital Law took place in Bishkek, organized by Ala-Too International University with the support of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek. This event provided a unique platform for students specializing in legal fields to develop and showcase their knowledge and skills in digital law. The moot court was conducted in English.
A moot court is a legal competition that simulates the hearing of a case in international arbitration and similar proceedings. For law students, it is more than just an extracurricular activity; it is akin to the Olympic Games. Moot courts are typically team competitions where participants are presented with a fictional case (moot problem) that includes various procedural documents and evidence. The task for the team is to analyze the case and all accompanying documents, including legal precedents, and prepare their written submissions (memoranda) for defense in the oral rounds. At the international level, students compete with teams from foreign universities by presenting their positions before judges.
Narxoz University was represented by two teams consisting of students and postgraduates from the School of Law and Public Administration. The team of third-year students, including Manshuk Moyatdinova (International Law and Security program), Madina Kabay (International Law and Security program), and Zhanerke Imanbayeva (Jurisprudence program), won the award for "Best Claimant's Memorandum." The second team, comprising postgraduates Ainur Zhumalipova and Ilyar Turdiev, received certificates for active participation in the competition.
The ability to draft well-founded legal claims, analyze situations, and develop legal arguments is a crucial skill for a lawyer. The victory of our students demonstrated that they have acquired the necessary skills during their studies and are set to become highly professional lawyers proficient in English at a professional level. This achievement is a result of the dedicated work of the faculty at the School of Law and Public Administration and the knowledge gained during the educational process. During their preparation, the students and postgraduates applied the knowledge and skills acquired from courses such as Civil Law, Private International Law, Public International Law, and the Legal Regime of Personal Data. The teams were led by PhD, Associate Professor A.K. Kusainova, and Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor G.A. Mashimbaeva.
