The Research Institute for Sustainable Development of Kazakhstan (SKRI) partners with the United Nations PRME Network to ‘Solve Climate by 2030’

An online conference Solve Climate by 2030: Multi-Stakeholder Recommendations for Responsible Management Education in Eurasia will be held on October 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
The event will take place on the eve of the 29th Conference on the UN Framework Convention on Climate
Change (Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP 29)
from November 11 to 24 in Baku, Azerbaijan. COP 29 will be a key platform for discussing international
climate policy, advancing measures to combat climate change and promoting global cooperation to achieve a
sustainable and viable future.
The online event is organized by the Sustainable Kazakhstan Research Institute (SKRI / Instagram: skri_narxoz) at Narxoz University, the Eurasian Chapter of the UN PRME Network (Principles for Responsible Management Education) which is part of the Global Compact. The event's partners include Bard College (Bard Center for Environmental Policy), Global Compact Office Kazakhstan, Business Schools for Climate Leadership Africa, Central Asian Regional Environmental Center (Kazakhstan Country Office), and UNESCO.
Participants include representatives of the European Union in Kazakhstan, heads and managers of the PRME Global Secretariat from countries participating in the Framework Convention on Climate Change, teachers of environmental disciplines and representatives of research universities.
The event aims to bring together business and academia, international organizations and civil society to gather and develop preliminary recommendations, taking into account the countries' unique geographic and cultural links and common interests in climate change mitigation and adaptation, on the future of responsible business and management education for consideration by national governments in the region.
These will include:
1. Recommendations for governments, ministries and higher education institutions to adopt ambitious climate commitments in their policies, strategies and curricula.
2. Recommendations for business on how higher education and the private sector can work together to accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and take bold climate action (e.g. through applied research projects).
3. Recommendations from business students and higher education organisations on what the next generation of business leaders need and want in terms of green skills and green jobs. This section will also build on the findings of the HESI Student Action Group event during the High Level Political Forum.
