This event is dedicated to facilitating dialogue between academia, students, civil society and the government of Kazakhstan as regards national preparations for the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The event is held in the framework of a global “Solve Climate by 2030” initiative organized by Bard College in the United States and the European Union’s #EU4GreenKZ climate campaign. “Solve Climate by 2030” covers over 100 events in fifty countries to discuss something of critical importance to the future: how an ambitious green recovery based on international, national and local action can put us on the way to coping with climate change by 2030. The #EU4GreenKZ campaign aims to strengthen EU and Member States’ cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of environment and green economy, and to support the country in addressing climate change, including coordinating both sides’ positions before COP 26.
In 2020 Narxoz University passed the Sustainable Narxoz-2030 Strategy setting out a comprehensive list of goals and targets to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and making climate action and education a top priority. We also have one of the leading sustainability research institutes in Central Asia, the Sustainable Kazakhstan Research Institute, whose mission is to assist Kazakhstan in support of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through applied research. Narxoz University has been ranked among the Top 400 universities in the world in performance on the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. As a result, it is our honor to host the event in cooperation with our partners to discuss Kazakhstan’s commitment to climate change policies, share view points and exchange ideas in preparation for COP 26 and beyond.
Your participation would be of great importance to us. Representatives of international organizations, embassies and leading universities in Kazakhstan are invited as participants and speakers at the event.
