From November 18 to November 25, 2019, the team of Narxoz University: Victoria Tsai, Advisor to the Rector for Internal Communications, Zhailagul Sagyndykova, Head of the Department for International Development, Anna Nagornova, Director of Accreditation and Quality of Narxoz Business School, Aybar Sharipov, Supervisor of the “ШОТЭ” Program and Pavel Nartov, lecturer of the Faculty of Basic Training, took part in the international week on the theme "Mission Sustainable" at the partner university Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), the Netherlands. For 5 days, representatives of the
Narxoz gave lectures on various topics: the development of higher education in Kazakhstan, prospects for sustainable development of the country and the city of Almaty, cultural peculiarities of business communications in Kazakhstan, investments in Central Asia. Business cases related to entrepreneurship in Central Asia were presented. AUAS students got acquainted with the culture of the Kazakh people, the peculiarities of Kazakh etiquette and in a lively conversation shared the values of family and relationships
in Dutch culture. AUAS teachers also took part in discussions about the future of higher education in Kazakhstan and the countries of the European Union. Teachers and representatives of AUAS management expressed interest in expanding partnership with Narxoz University. Narxoz University has been cooperating with AUAS since 2017 During this time, 5 students have completed semester training within the framework of academic mobility. In 2018, five teachers took part in the international week and 2 teachers from AUAS came to Narxoz with guest lectures. The cooperation is supported by the European
program Erasmus + credit mobility of students and teachers. The partnership will be developed within the framework of Erasmus + programs and an online project of AUAS students with students of Narxoz University on the topic "Intercultural features in business communications" in the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. Acceptance of applications for the online project will begin on January 10, 2020 The main selection criteria will be: knowledge of English (level B2), completion of a full three-month course (February-April 2020). Upon completion of the program, students will get acquainted with
AUAS students, will jointly implement one project and receive a certificate from AUAS and Narxoz University. The number of students is 12 people. global@narxoz.kz
The World Urban Forum was established in 2001 by the United Nations to address one of the most pressing issues facing the world today: rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, the economy, climate change and politics. The Forum is a global event attended by leading researchers, politicians and non-governmental organizations around the world dealing with this issue. The 2020 Forum was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It was attended by more than 24,000 people representing 164 countries from around the world.
As one of the leading research institutes in Central Asia, Narxoz University was selected to lead one of the few parallel events dedicated to global challenges related to urbanization. The Sustainable Kazakhstan Research Institute (SKRI), in partnership with the School of Society, Technology and Ecology, together with the United Nations Environment Programme, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme
and the University of Helsinki, held a parallel event entitled "Solving the problem of air quality in emerging Economies and innovative technological potential". A group of experts at a side event presented air quality problems in selected emerging market economies in Asia and Africa, including the perspective of Almaty.The University of Helsinki presented its advanced technologies for detecting/measuring large-scale and small-scale air pollution and using it for policy development in cities such as Almaty. At the event, UNEP announced the launch of a global partnership task to collect global data on air pollution in
cities around the world.
